Coty Inc Open Innovation and Project Manager in Paris, France

We are the global leader in fragrances, with the number two position in Salon Hair and number three in Color Cosmetics.

We are looking for a Manager (reporting to the Senior Manager) to develop the strategy of Color Cosmetics brands in retail, including leading the translation of the brand identity in the store and the design & delivery of all permanent & temporary in-store materials (together with qualified agency partners).

In this broad reaching role touching multiple innovation programs at different stages of development, you will be part of the core Stretch Innovation agile team and working in partnership with the total Luxury R&D organisation based in Paris, Versoix (Geneva), Monaco and New York. Your mission is to drive the development of strategic innovation projects within your remit from inception through to market execution, and influence how we will run intrapreneurial innovation within the Luxury Division.

Responsibilities include:

Open Innovation:

  • Map global external partnership network to provide broader exposure to new and relevant external innovation in fine fragrances, colour cosmetics, skin care products and services.

  • Build and maintain relationship with the external innovation ecosystem. Leverage a variety of open innovation techniques to identify and assess external sources of innovation, proactively and against a specific target.

  • Manage partnerships with external technology providers through non-confidential communications and confidential discussions under formal legal agreements.

  • Support corporate innovation program in adapting the global strategy within the Luxury division.

Project Management:

  • In collaboration with the Innovation Portfolio Manager, coordinate projects to support the various squads across technical and commercial functions, from ideation to delivery of a Minimum Viable Product (MVP).

  • Lead and/or facilitate the integration of external vendors identified as innovation partners for applicable projects (contact, agreements, timing management, potential issue management).

Innovation Advocacy:

  • Support the Innovation Portfolio Manager in establishing the internal workflow of activities from project request to delivery.

  • Act as innovation well, by identifying opportunities at the seams, and bringing inspiration from the outside in, partnering with the Design, and Trends teams.

  • Lead the governance and expansion of our R&D inspiration and collaborative ideation platform, pairing with the Principal Product Designer and the Trends teams.

  • Support teams in communicating key innovation showcasing internal events, or external talks/conferences.

  • Train of the Luxury R&D organization on agile project management, lean methodology, design thinking.

Other Considerations:

  • Expected business travel to support innovation workshops, reviews with external or internal stakeholders.

  • Coaching of interns and junior team members.

Professional Experience / Qualification / Ideal Fit :

  • Postgraduate degree in Engineering, Project/Program management or equivalent, with 3+years relevant work experience. Or, BA/BS degree, with 5+ years relevant experience.

  • Track record in managing projects and leading multi-discipline design and development teams, working with both Waterfall and Agile Methodologies.

  • Understanding of confidentiality and creation of a competitive advantage strategy, and experience in executing various types of contracts with 3rd parties

  • Track record in delivering projects with excellence through open innovation and lean innovation processes.

  • Experience in identification of and collaboration with relevant partners in academia, startups, suppliers etc.

  • Agile Creative and Inventive, Ability to adapt to change effectively and quickly.

  • Good managerial skills, able to lead by example

  • Great stakeholder management – strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, negotiating, influencing, facilitation, presentation skills.
