JOB TITLE:

Financial Accountant

REPORTS TO:

Accounting Supervisor

LOCATION:

Sanford, N. Carolina

Core Description:

To support the goals of the Shared Services group and its customers in the areas of accounting and finance. These include but are not limited to journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, GL reporting and analysis, SOX controls, and other general accounting tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Plays a key role in month-end closing, including preparation and posting of journal entries

  • Ensure monthly GL account reconciliations are performed timely for related accounts

  • Support internal and external auditors in SOX control and financial statement testing

  • Provide special project support as assigned throughout the year

Functions:

  • General Ledger Account Analysis / Reconciliation may include but not limited to:

  • Cash accounts (lockbox, disbursement, concentration, and miscellaneous depository)

  • Prepaid expenses and related amortization schedules (insurance, maintenance, etc.)

  • Non-trade receivable accounts

  • Debt related activities

  • Other Assets

  • Inventory (variance accounts, clearing accounts)

  • Intercompany Receivables/Payables

  • Miscellaneous accrual accounts

  • Month-end close and Reporting

  • Post recurring and miscellaneous journal entries

  • Assist with quarterly reporting requirements

  • Fixed Assets Accounting

  • Record additions, disposals, transfers, and other adjustments to Fixed Assets subledger.

  • Generate and record depreciation/amortization expense.

  • Monthly reporting of capital spend

  • Preparation of Fixed Asset Rollforwards

  • Quarterly reporting and analytics

  • SOX controls

  • Adhere to/improve current SOX controls and work with Management and Internal Audit to implement any additional necessary controls.

  • Assist with testing of internal controls

Application Pre-Requisites:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • CPA or CPA Candidate preferred

  • 2-4 years of Public Accounting experience, specifically in Audit, or industry equivalent

  • Prefer experience in medium to large size company environment

  • Experience with ERP Systems preferred; preferably SAP

  • Experience with manufacturing environments preferred, but not required

  • Firm understanding of basic accounting, financial statements and US GAAP.

  • Full understanding of the month end close process and how it relates to other closing activities.

Special skills required:

Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office including Advanced Level Excel, which includes pivot tables, v/h-lookup, sum-if, if-then statements etc.)

  • Well rounded communication skills, organizational skills and teamwork ethics

  • Able to multi-task and handle large volumes of work with direction from Management

  • Proven ability to work within a dynamic team environment
